Carried-forward vacancies are filled first, before the fresh ones. The split by community, Multi-Zone and Zone is in Annexure-I of the notification.

Where the posts are. Post codes 01–03, 05–11 and 13 are organised into two Multi-Zones, and 95% of these go to local candidates of each Multi-Zone:

  • Multi-Zone I: Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitarama Raju, East Godavari, Kakinada, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, West Godavari, Eluru, NTR, Krishna

Assistant Audit Officer (code 12) is a zonal post across Zones I to VI. DSP (Communications) (code 04) is a State cadre post, so local reservation does not apply to it.

Reservations. Vertical reservation applies for SC, ST, BC and EWS. Horizontal reservation applies for women (33⅓%), meritorious sportspersons (3%) and persons with benchmark disabilities. PBD reservation does not apply to the two DSP posts; for code 02 it is limited to hearing and orthopaedic disabilities, for code 06 to hearing, and for code 10 to orthopaedic. Reservation for BC-E depends on the Supreme Court case pending on it. BC, SC, ST and EWS candidates from other states cannot claim reservation.

Eligibility

Education. You must hold the qualification on the date of the notification, 6 October 2026.

Post codes Qualification
01, 02, 03, 05 to 13 A bachelor’s degree from a university established under a Central, State or Provincial Act, or a UGC-recognised institution, or an equivalent qualification
04 (DSP Communications) B.E. or B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, or Radio Engineering

Scheduled Tribe men At least 164 cm At least 83.8 cm, with 5 cm expansion
Women At least 152.5 cm Weight at least 45.5 kg

Both DSP posts also have eyesight standards, checked by a medical board. For DSP (Civil), Standard-I is 6/6 distant vision in each eye without glasses, and the notice also lists two lower standards allowed with glasses. For DSP (Communications), colour blindness, squint, knock knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes, fractured limbs and decayed teeth disqualify. Read the full vision tables in Para 3 and Annexure-V before you choose these posts.

Local status. To claim a local seat you need study certificates for Class 1 to 7, or a residence certificate if you did not study in any school in those years. You are local to the area where you studied for at least four consecutive years up to and including Class 7. Candidates who moved from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh between 2 June 2014 and 1 June 2024 need a local status certificate.

Certificates with a date rule. A BC non-creamy layer certificate and an EWS certificate (income for FY 2025-26) must be issued by the Tahsildar on or after 1 April 2026 and no later than the last date of application. The EWS certificate must be in digital format. An older certificate will not get you the reservation.

Am I eligible? A quick check

  1. Do you hold the degree today? It must be in hand by 6 October 2026. For DSP (Communications) it must be in ECE, Electronics & Telecommunication or Radio Engineering.
  2. Does your age fit on 1 July 2026? See the age limit table below, with your category’s relaxation.
  3. For DSP posts, do you meet the height, chest and eyesight standards?
  4. If you claim BC or EWS, is your certificate dated 1 April 2026 or later?
  5. For a local seat, do you have Class 1–7 study certificates or a residence certificate?

Age limit

Age is counted on 1 July 2026.

Posts Minimum Maximum
All posts except the two DSP posts 18 44
DSP (Civil), code 03 21 30
DSP (Communications), code 04 18 30

Relaxation of the upper age limit

Category Relaxation

Regular A.P. State Government employees Length of regular service, up to 5 years (employees of corporations and municipalities are not covered)

So the effective upper limit is 49 for SC, ST, BC and EWS candidates on the 44-year posts, and 35 for them on the DSP posts. After deductions, ex-servicemen and NCC instructors must still fall within the maximum age for the post. Use our age calculator to check your exact age on 1 July 2026.

Selection process and exam pattern

  1. Screening Test (objective, offline OMR), on 24 January 2027 at district centres. It only shortlists candidates. 50 candidates per vacancy go through to the Main exam, which for 166 posts is about 8,300 candidates, irrespective of community. You must sit both papers.
  2. Main exam (descriptive), at Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati or Ananthapuramu. You must sit every paper.
  3. Interview (personality test).
  4. Final merit on the Main exam and interview only.

Screening Test

Paper Subjects Questions Time Marks
Paper I, General Studies History and Culture; Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International Relations; Indian and AP Economy and Planning; Geography 120 120 min 120
Paper II, General Aptitude General Mental Ability, Administrative and Psychological Abilities; Science and Technology; Current Events 120 120 min 120

Each wrong answer costs one-third of the marks for that question, so guessing has a price.

Main exam and interview

Paper Subject Marks Counts for merit?
Telugu Language paper 150 No, qualifying
English Language paper 150 No, qualifying
Paper I General Essay on contemporary regional, national and international themes 150 Yes
Paper II History, Culture and Geography of India and Andhra Pradesh 150 Yes
Paper III Polity, Constitution, Governance, Law and Ethics 150 Yes
Paper IV Economy and Development of India and Andhra Pradesh 150 Yes
Paper V Science, Technology and Environmental Issues 150 Yes
Interview Personality test 75 Yes
Total for merit 825

Each Main paper is 3 hours. The full syllabus is in Annexure-II of the notification.

Minimum qualifying marks (aggregate)

Category Minimum Out of 825
OC, sportspersons and EWS 40% 330
Backward Classes 35% about 289
SC, ST and PBD 30% about 248

These are floors, not cut-offs. With about 50 candidates for every post at the Main stage, the marks needed for selection will be well above them. Ties are broken by age (older first), then by who obtained the qualification earlier.

Worked examples

These are made-up candidates, worked through the notification’s rules.

1. Ravi, BC-B, 46 years old on 1 July 2026, B.Com, studied Classes 1 to 7 in Guntur.

  • Age: the upper limit is 44 + 5 = 49 for a BC candidate, so he can apply for all posts except the two DSP posts (30 + 5 = 35).
  • Local status: Guntur is in Multi-Zone II, so he is a local candidate there with his study certificates.
  • Fee: as a BC candidate he is exempt from the exam fee and pays Rs 250.
  • Certificate: his BC non-creamy layer certificate must be dated 1 April 2026 or later.

2. Sneha, OC woman, 26, B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering, 155 cm, 50 kg.

  • She can apply for every post, including DSP (Communications), which needs her ECE degree, and DSP (Civil), where women must be at least 152.5 cm and 45.5 kg.
  • For either DSP post she also has to pass the eyesight standards at the medical.
  • Fee: Rs 370, unless her family holds an A.P. white card or she qualifies as unemployed, in which case Rs 250.

3. Arjun, OC, 31, B.A., studied up to Class 7 in Hyderabad and lives in Telangana.

  • Age: 31 is too old for both DSP posts, but within the limit for the other 11 posts.
  • Local status: he is not local to any Andhra Pradesh Multi-Zone, so he competes only for the open (non-local) share of each Multi-Zone’s posts.
  • Fee: as an applicant from another state he pays Rs 370.

How to apply

APPSC application portal home page with four options: APPSC Website, OTPR Registration, Online Application Submission and Download Hallticket

  1. Register for OTPR, if you have not already. First-time applicants fill the One Time Profile Registration on psc.ap.gov.in. A user ID is sent to your mobile and email. OTPR is not an application in itself. Keep the same mobile number and email, because OTPs and messages go there.
  2. Log in and open “Online Application Submission”. Use your OTPR ID and password, then click Fill Application next to Notification 07/2026.
  3. Check your OTPR details first. Your local or non-local status and white card details are used to calculate the fee and age relaxation. If anything is wrong, fix it through Modify OTPR before you continue. These fields cannot be corrected later.
  4. Fill in the application. Enter your qualification, post preferences, three Screening Test centres in order of preference, and one Main exam centre. Upload your own scanned photo and signature in JPG format.
  5. Click “Save & Submit”, not just “Save”. Only Save & Submit takes you to payment. An application that is only saved is incomplete.
  6. Pay the fee online. You get a payment reference ID and an SMS. Download the filled application PDF for your records. If the payment fails, start a fresh payment.
  7. Corrections. For 7 days after 27 October you can correct the application at Rs 100 per correction. Name, fee and age relaxation fields cannot be changed.

Handwritten, typed or photocopied applications are not accepted. Keep your certificates ready, because the Commission can ask for them at any stage: degree, date of birth, community, BC non-creamy layer or EWS, study or residence certificates, and disability or ex-servicemen certificates where they apply. The formats are on psc.ap.gov.in.
