GATE 2027 registration has closed. The regular period ended on 27 September 2026 and the late-fee period on 5 October 2026. If you registered, the next step is the application correction (rectification) window, 14–21 October 2026. The exam is on 6–7, 13–14 and 20–21 February 2027, and results are due on 19 March 2027.
GATE 2027 is organised by IIT Madras for MTech, MS and PhD admissions and for PSU recruitment that uses GATE scores. All dates below are from the official Important Dates page, which marks them as liable to change.

IIT Madras had first indicated mid-August for registration, then moved the opening to 27 August 2026 and shifted the closing dates.
Using the correction window (14–21 October)
- Log in to GOAPS on gate2027.iitm.ac.in with your enrolment ID and password.
- Check your name, category, paper choice and uploaded photo, signature and ID against your documents.
- Change only what the portal allows in this window. Some changes can carry a fee; the portal shows it before you confirm.
- Save or print the updated application.
After 21 October, the next official step is the exam city allotment on 4 January 2027, followed by the admit card.
What is new in GATE 2027
- IIT Madras is the organising institute.
- A new paper, Robotics and Automation (RA), brings the total to 30.
- Syllabi were revised. Download the 2027 PDFs from the Test Papers & Syllabus section; older syllabi may not match.
- Registration used DigiLocker (mandatory for Indian nationals) and a live photo step.
- Brochure revisions updated two-paper combinations, exam cities and some section codes (XE / XH / XL).
Who was eligible
Candidates with a recognised undergraduate degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts or humanities, and students in the third year or later of such a programme, as set out in the eligibility rules. Eligibility depends on the paper chosen.
Fees that applied
Fees were per paper, so two papers cost double.

Exam pattern
- Computer-based test over six days in February 2027, in forenoon and afternoon sessions.
- 30 papers; a second paper is allowed only in the combinations listed for your first paper.
