Notice issued 30 September 2026
Detailed notice on RRC website 1 October 2026
Online application opens 7 October 2026
Last date to apply 6 November 2026, 23:59
Age and eligibility counted on 6 November 2026

A helpline number appears on www.rrcjaipur.in from 7 October, from 10 am to 5 pm, except Sundays and holidays.

Can you apply? Three checks

1. Qualification

  • Class 10 (matriculation) or equivalent with at least 50% aggregate marks. The notice says there is no rounding off, so 49.9% does not count as 50%.
  • A National Trade Certificate (ITI) in the notified trade, issued by NCVT or SCVT.
  • You must hold both on the date you apply. Candidates waiting for final results should not apply.

2. Age: 15 to 24 on 6 November 2026

You must have completed 15 years and not completed 24 years on 6 November 2026. By our arithmetic, that means born between 7 November 2002 and 6 November 2011.

Category Upper age limit relaxed by
SC / ST 5 years
OBC 3 years
PwBD 10 years
Ex-servicemen Up to 10 extra years: length of defence service plus 3 years, if they served at least 6 months at a stretch

Ex-servicemen who already joined a civil government job using ex-servicemen status cannot use this relaxation.

3. Persons with disabilities

Only the disabilities and trades the notice lists qualify for PwBD seats: locomotor disability or cerebral palsy (40% or more, with trade-wise limits), hearing impairment (60 dB or more loss in the better ear) and low vision (for Diesel Mechanic and Fitter). Read section 12 of the notice to check your trade. PwBD candidates outside these definitions should not apply as PwBD.

How the merit list works

  • Your score is the simple average of your Class 10 percentage (all subjects, not a group of subjects) and your ITI percentage in the trade (from the provisional or final certificate).
  • Example: Class 10 = 72%, ITI = 84%. Merit score = (72 + 84) ÷ 2 = 78%.
  • Lists are made separately for each division or unit, each trade and each community, equal to the number of slots. There is no combined list for all of NWR.
  • Ties: the older candidate goes first. If the dates of birth are the same, the one who passed Class 10 earlier goes first.
  • Those on the list are called for document verification and a medical at the unit they chose.

Because a list is made for each unit and trade, the cut-off depends on how many people choose the same unit and trade as you. That is why choosing the unit carefully matters (see below).

Seats by unit

You can choose only one of these eight units.

Division / Unit Seats
DRM Office, Ajmer 500
DRM Office, Bikaner 524
DRM Office, Jaipur 580
DRM Office, Jodhpur 134
B.T.C. Carriage, Ajmer 101
B.T.C. Loco, Ajmer 69
Carriage Workshop, Bikaner 33
Carriage Workshop, Jodhpur 67
Total 2,008

By community, the 2,008 seats are UR 845, OBC 543, SC 295, ST 143 and EWS 182. PwBD and ex-servicemen seats are included in these numbers, not added on top.

Calculated by us from the unit-wise tables in section 7 of the notice. A dash means no seats in that trade at that unit. The notice also gives the UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS split for every trade and unit, and the electrician seats are split into types such as Power, Coaching, TRD and General. Check those tables for your exact trade and category.

How to apply

  1. Go to www.rrcjaipur.in and open the apprentice application (Notice No. 04/2026).
  2. Keep your Aadhaar number ready. You enter it at registration and show it at document verification.
  3. Fill in your details. Your name, father’s name and date of birth must match your Class 10 certificate exactly, or your candidature is cancelled.
  4. Give an active mobile number and email. All messages come by SMS or email and are treated as read.
  5. Choose one unit and your trade.
  6. Upload a colour photo: 3.5 × 3.5 cm, JPG, 100 DPI, 20–70 KB, taken within the last three months, with a clear front view and no cap or sunglasses. Keep two printed copies for document verification.

Before you choose: mistakes that waste an application

  • Choosing a unit that has no seats for your trade. The notice warns about this directly. For example, Mason and Pipe Fitter seats exist only at DRM Ajmer, and COPA seats are mostly at DRM Jaipur. Check the table above and the notice before you submit.
  • Submitting more than one application. If you try to apply again with different details or a different email or mobile number, all your applications are rejected.
  • Class 10 below 50%, or an ITI certificate in a different trade from the one you choose.
  • A name or date of birth that does not match your Class 10 certificate.
  • An old or unclear photo, or one that does not look like you.
  • Wrong reservation documents. OBC candidates need a Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 in the central government format, plus the OBC declaration (Annexure IIA). SC/ST and EWS candidates need certificates in the formats in Annexures I and III.

After selection

  • Document verification and medical happen at your chosen unit. You need a medical certificate in the Annexure IV format, signed by a government gazetted doctor of at least Assistant Surgeon rank. No travel or daily allowance is paid for document verification.
  • You (or your guardian, if you are a minor) sign a contract of apprenticeship before training starts.
  • The training period and stipend follow Railway Board rules. No hostel is provided, so arrange your own stay.
  • You cannot change your unit or trade after selection.
  • Training does not lead to a railway job automatically. The employer is not obliged to offer employment, and you are not obliged to accept it.
