Frequently Asked Questions

I have 3 years as a bank Law Officer. Which post should I apply for?

With 3 years post-enrolment experience, you qualify for Assistant Manager (Law) (2-year bar) but not Deputy Manager (Law) which requires 4 years. Verify your Bar Council enrolment date on experience certificates.

Does the reasoning and English section affect my merit rank?

No. Reasoning and English are qualifying only. Your merit rank depends on Professional Knowledge (objective) + Descriptive Test scores, weighted at 70% combined with 30% interview.

Can fresh LLB graduates without practice experience apply?

No. Both posts require mandatory post-enrolment experience — either as advocate or bank legal officer. Fresh graduates should consider IBPS SO Law Officer if they meet that notification’s criteria.

Will SBI provide a separate admit card for objective and descriptive tests?

Call letters for the online written test (objective + descriptive in one session) are released on the SBI careers portal. Check sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings regularly from late July 2026.

What happens if I submit two applications for Assistant Manager (Law)?

Only the last completed application with the higher RID is retained. The fee paid on the earlier registration is not refunded or adjusted.
