PwBD reservation is in Blindness/Low Vision for the Assistant Legislative Counsel post and in Locomotor Disability for the Law Officer post. The Cardiology and JTO posts are not reserved for PwBD, but each lists the disability types it is suitable for.

How selection works
- These posts are filled by selection through interview. The interview date is sent only to shortlisted candidates.
- If the number of applications is large, UPSC can restrict who is called for interview by:
- desirable qualifications;
- higher qualifications or experience;
- experience counted before or after the essential qualification;
- a Recruitment Test.
- List every qualification and all relevant experience in the form, not just the minimum.
- Interview minimum: 50 (UR), 45 (OBC) and 40 (SC/ST/PwBD) out of 100. If there is a Recruitment Test, you must clear both stages.
- Experience that does not count: part-time work, daily wages and visiting or guest faculty.
How to apply
- On upsconline.nic.in, complete the three common modules: account creation, Universal Registration (URN) and the Common Application Form (CAF). Then fill the post-specific module for each post you want.
- The CAF needs an uploaded photo and a live photo capture, plus your signature signed three times on white paper in black ink. UPSC advises using Aadhaar as the ID document.
- Upload a separate PDF for each claim:
- Class 10 certificate (date of birth);
- degree;
- experience certificates in the prescribed format, showing dates and pay;
- caste or OBC non-creamy-layer declaration;
- disability certificate;
- any age-relaxation proof. Do not upload pay slips, resumes, appointment letters or unsigned experience letters.
- Pay the fee if applicable, submit, and print the final application. You’ll need the printout and original documents at the interview.
After you submit, you cannot withdraw or correct anything. Check every field before the final step.
Points to note
- The date of birth you enter is final. Make sure it matches your Class 10 certificate.
- Government employees (regular service) must declare that they have informed their head of office in writing.
- All communication is by email, including interview schedules and document requirements.
- Helpline: 011-24041001 or 011-40303444, or upscsoap@nic.in, 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM on working days while applications are open.
