  • Qualification:
Trades Qualification Marks needed
All ITI trades Class 10 + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) Pass
Crane Operator Overhead (Steel Industry), Forger & Heat Treater Class 10 Pass

  • If your board gave grades or CGPA, you need the equivalent percentage from the board before you apply. Without it, the application is not considered.

  • Age: no upper age limit (MSDE order of 20 December 2021). The minimum age on 12 April 2027:

    • 14 years for non-hazardous trades, so born on or before 12 April 2013;

    The notice warns that a separate upper age limit applies later if you want to apply for Tradesman Skilled posts in naval establishments.

  • Physical fitness as per Rule 4 and Schedule II of the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

  • Not eligible:

    • anyone currently doing an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act;
    • anyone who has already done two apprenticeships. You can do at most two, and the second can’t be in the same trade.
  • Waiting period: if your earlier apprenticeship contract was ended for health, money, relocation, transport, career-change or language reasons, you must wait 3 months before a new one. The waiting period does not apply to women.

  • The notice advises candidates with 100% disability not to apply, because there are no competent instructors or facilities.

The two-step application

Step 1: Apply online on the apprenticeship portal

  1. First, match your Aadhaar to your Class 10 certificate. Your name, date of birth and father’s name in Aadhaar must match your SSC certificate; for Riggers, the Class 8 certificate. If they don’t, correct Aadhaar first. A mismatch is one of the listed rejection reasons.
  2. Go to www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in → Candidate Login / Register and fill the registration form.
  3. Activate your profile from the email you receive. Then log in with your email, using the OTP sent to your mobile.
  4. Complete your profile:
    • date of birth, uploading only your Class 10 marksheet or birth certificate as proof;
    • father’s and mother’s names and your address;
    • qualifications (only Class 10 and ITI);
    • trade preference;
    • bank account details;
    • Aadhaar validation.
  5. Open Apprenticeship Opportunities from the menu at the top right.
  6. In “Search by Establishment Name”, type Naval Dockyard, Karwar.
  7. Click Apply for your eligible trade, choose “Uttara Kannada”, and click OK.

Step 2: Post your documents to Karwar

Download and print your Candidate Profile from the portal. Send it with these documents by speed post or registered post:

  1. Self-attested Class 10 marksheet (Riggers: Class 8 marksheet)
  2. Self-attested ITI marksheets, both semester-wise and consolidated
  3. Self-attested category certificate (OBC/SC/ST only)
  4. Self-attested disability certificate (PwBD only)
  5. Self-attested Aadhaar card

Why applications get rejected

The notice lists these reasons:

  • Not holding the qualification on the closing date.
  • Being under age, or a wrong or missing date of birth.
  • More than one application.
  • Name, father’s name or date of birth in the profile not matching the Class 10 or ITI certificate.
  • The trade you applied for doesn’t match your ITI trade.
  • Being in an apprenticeship already, or in a waiting period after one ended.

Also make sure your documents arrive at Karwar on time, and that you tick only one establishment in the undertaking.
