From the notice. Every unit row and trade total adds up.
- Apply for one unit and one trade only. Applying for more than one post is rejected. If you send more than one application for the same post, only the last counts.
- Your posting is the unit you choose. The job is still transferable to any IREL unit or site in India.
- Compassionate appointments: 5% of vacancies are kept for them.
- PwBD: the notice says no post is suitable for PwBD candidates.
Andhra Pradesh: REPM, Visakhapatnam has 5 posts: Fitter 1, Instrumentation 1 and AOCP 3, all unreserved.

- What counts as experience: it must be in a reputed industrial establishment. Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act and on-the-job training count; teaching or research fellowships don’t.
- Courses: must be full-time and regular, recognised by the State or Central Government, UGC or AICTE.
- Also expected: proficiency with office automation tools and good communication skills.
- IREL internal candidates: SSC plus 4 years’ experience in the trade.

Other relaxations:
- Regular employees of Central or State Government, PSUs and autonomous bodies: 5 years.
- Domiciled in J&K in 1980–89: 5 years, on top of any category relaxation.
- Ex-servicemen: military service plus 3 years.
- IREL internal candidates: 10 years.
- The maximum age with all relaxations is 50.
Stipend, salary and posting

How selection works
1. Computer Based Test: 2 hours, bilingual (Hindi and English).

- No negative marking.
- Minimum marks in each section: 50% for UR/EWS and 45% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL.
2. Skill test (trade test or computer proficiency test):
- 1:5 candidates per post are called.
- It is qualifying only.
- IREL pays second-class sleeper rail fare for the skill test, but not for the CBT.
3. Final merit: based on CBT marks, trade-wise and category-wise for each unit. Then document verification, a medical, and character and antecedents checks. The wait list is valid for a year.
Tentative CBT centres: Mumbai, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Trivandrum, Kochi, Bhopal, Indore, Chennai, Nagercoil, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. You choose two.
How to apply for IREL Tradesman Trainee 2026
- Go to irel.co.in/careers (the “Click here to apply” link in the notice) and open this advertisement’s application link.
- Step I: register with your mobile and email, verify both OTPs, and note the Application Sequence Number and password.
- Step II: log in again and fill in your personal, qualification and experience details. Upload:
- photo: JPG, 100–200 KB, 3.5 × 4.5 cm, white background, not older than 3 months;
- signature: JPG, 80–150 KB, black ink on white paper;
- your category certificate, if any. The OBC-NCL certificate must be issued on or after 1 April 2026, and the EWS certificate must be valid for 2026-27.
- Preview your details, submit and pay. Nothing can be edited after you submit.
- Print the application form. Government or PSU employees must apply through proper channel or bring a no-objection certificate to the skill test.

Points to check
- Two dates tables disagree. The table in section 1 (page 1) still shows the opening and closing dates as “To be Notified”, while the Important Dates on page 14 give 19.10.2026 and 09.11.2026, matching para 14(b). We have used the page 14 dates. The PDF’s file name also includes “Draft”; if IREL issues a corrigendum changing the dates, we will update this page.
- Who is exempt from the application fee:
- Para 7(e) and the fee table in para 15 list SC/ST/PwBD/ex-servicemen/women/internal candidates.
- The application instructions (16.A.4) list SC/ST/EWS/PwBD/ex-servicemen instead: EWS is added and women are left out.
- We have followed the fee table. Confirm on the payment page before you pay.
- No minimum age is given.
- Unit name: the notice calls the Odisha unit “OSCOM, Chhatarpur, Odisha”. OSCOM (Orissa Sands Complex) is generally known to be at Chhatrapur, and Chhatarpur is also the name of a district in Madhya Pradesh. We have kept the notice’s spelling; choose the OSCOM unit on the form.
